I think the art of “Thank you notes” is dieing. I Can’t remember the last time I got a thank you note after someones party or other celebration that included gifts. I never missed the thank you note, I just didn’t give it any thought. In fact the last time I had to really think about thank you notes was when I was a young kid trying to get out of signing my name to all the thank you notes my mother made me send to people who came to my birthday parties.

I got a cute little pink note in the mail today thanking LB and I for helping put together a baby shower and personally thanking us for the gifts we brought. It was cute and nice and gave me a warm fuzzy.

Things to add to the wedding book:

Thank you notes. :)

Okay, so I dont hate sewing. I really enjoy it actually, that is, when the #!@ #@$ %$@#$% @#$%$# sewing machine works correctly. I have a serger on loan from my mom. Its badass, also, it hates me. Im working on a project for a friends baby shower but my machine keeps tangling the thread and making me want to cry. After much research and even more rethreading I got the thing working… It worked beautifully for 4 or 5 runs on scrap, but the first time I put my project near the needle it all went to hell. So I cleaned the string ball out, started over, put new thread in, ran a new scrap through… worked just fine. Put my project piece in and I really think I could see the machine wave its middle needle at me just before it jammed up again.

I got pissed off and abandoned the serger and went upstairs to use my plain old sewing machine. Put the thread in, did a test run… all is well. Put my stupid piece of black fabric under the foot and nothing happens, figured out the problem, tried again… the machine works, but the thread is not catching the bobbin so its not sewing anything. I put my scrap piece back in so i could figure out what was wrong… and guess what, yeah… it works! Put my piece back up there and the needle broke on the first stitch.

I moved over to LBs sewing machine, ran a scrap through… no problems. At this point I was frustrated because what would take me 10 minuets on a serger and 30 minuets on my machine is going to take me an hour on her old dinosaur (I love you honey!). I put my fabric into her sewing machine, push the lever to start the needle, watch as the needle dips down into the machine…. and comes up with no thread in it!!!!!!!!!! ARGHHHHHHH I unplugged the sewing machine and stomped downstairs to pout, and write this post.

So, I guess the problem is sewing hates me.

I tried to talk LB into jumping on the train and taking that trip that was supposed to be our honeymoon right now!! The wedding planning isnt stressful, not yet anyway, but the rest of my life is right now. I think a vacation would be lovely, but the best Im going to be able to do is having a weekend off with my girl, so we will just make the best of that… book sale and brewery tour here we come.

Her ring is back from the Jeweler and now a petite size 5 1/2. According to LB it may never come off again, but at least it wont get lost!

My ring is still in progress. Im trying not to be impatient, but im being impatient!!!!!

We are going to a local brewery Saturday afternoon to try some beers and talk about keg rentals for the reception. (Important details first, of course!). Nothing to do with weddings, but the library is having a book sale Saturday. Im looking forward to a lovely date with LB and more books that we dont have a place for!

A Queer Engagement!

Hello blogging world. I finally have a good reason to start a blog! So here it is:

LB and I (Jamie) are ENGAGED!

As of press time we have been dating for 677 days, and of those 677 days we have been engaged for 28!

We proposed with “for now” rings because we were unsure of what type of engagement ring the other wanted. LB has her real engagement ring now and it has an appointment at the jeweler to be resized today.

My engagement ring is being made by some awesome folks over at Etsy and should be here within the next two weeks.

Other than the rings we have settled exactly ONE detail, and no mom, it is not a date! We have a lovely little green journal that we are using to jot down ideas and lists and thats about as far as we have gotten. Its fantastic. We have at least a year to go before The Big Day, so plenty of time to fill up our little book.
